We all know how valuable regular exercise is. It helps us keep up our energy, burns fat and tones our muscles. However, as our children grow older we find that more of our time is spent with them or running the household, and less time is spent keeping our bodies healthy and fit. By concentrating your workout into shorter routines you can easily squeeze them in when the kids are napping or having an afternoon snack. Here is a list of quick women workouts:
1. Jump Rope – this is a great women workout that can be done anywhere at any time and all you need is a rope. Not only is it a great cardio workout, it also gets all the major muscles in your body working. After a few minutes your heart will be pumping, your legs will be humming and you will wonder why you never tried this before. Tip: get a plastic jump rope instead of a rope one, they’re easier to handle.
2. Lunges – whip those quads into shape with some lunges. Start with ten reps each: legs side by side left leg in front, right leg in front. Take a break and then repeat. Turn it into mini circuit training by throwing some sit ups and push-ups in between reps and get a whole body workout.
3. Dumbbells – these are handy to have around and you can pick them up anytime. Do a few bicep curls, triceps extension and lateral deltoid raises to tone up your arms. Or you can get a workout all day long with some wrist and ankle weights.
4. Ball – back balls are a great tool to add to a women workout, and when not in use the kids will love kicking it around. Use the ball for sit ups and crunches, pushups, squats and more. Get an advanced workout by combining your ball with some tension ropes and you’ll be able to hit all your major muscle groups.
5. Walk – this is one of the easiest ways to exercise, and it doesn’t require any special equipment (except a stroller for the little one). Just 10 minutes of brisk walking a day will get your blood flowing and will help tone muscles. Enhance your women workout by putting your toddler in a baby backpack and then you will really feel the burn!
A women’s workout does not need to be strenuous, or even every day. By having a few tried and true home fitness routines handy, whenever you little one is occupied you can bust a move, and stay in shape. Are you considering joining a health fitness club?
